I'm a mother of an energetic 2 year old and I'm also going back to school to get a degree in Elementary Ed. I couldn't have accomplished this without grants and other kinds of financial aid. That's why I wanted to share with all of you some of the single mother scholarships I've found.
Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation offers scholarships to low income women to help make their education goals possible. It was established in honor Congresswoman Patsy Mink whose legislative agenda revolved around making education affordable for all.
The WISP change your world scholarship enables women who are capable, have motivation and willing to put forth the effort to have the opportunity to earn a college degree.
The R.O.S.E. scholarship is helping women who have been the victims of domestic violence break the cycle by giving them the tools to go back to college and be independent.
The Jeanette Rankin Foundation has assisted 500 women ages 35 or older go back to school.
Raise the Nation offers both scholarships and loan programs for women looking to go back to school.
Finally, don't forget about state programs for single moms. For instance, the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund has single mother scholarships for residents of Arkansas. In Wyoming, the program is called CLIMB which helps women with kids earn a degree or credential which will increase their income potential. In Oregon, the program is called the Ford Opportunity program.
